First Aid and CPR Blog: CPR Tips and First Aid Guides for Ontario

Welcome to the Pulse Savers first aid and CPR blog. Our instructors are paramedics, nurses and workplace safety trainers who teach in Mississauga, Brampton, Scarborough and Pickering every week. Every article here comes from questions students ask in class: what to do first in an emergency, how to choose between courses, and how to stay certified without losing a day of work. Read the guides below, then browse our CPR and first aid courses when you are ready to practice the skills hands-on.

CPR tips from certified instructors

Good CPR is simple but easy to get wrong under stress. Our CPR tips cover hand position, compression depth and rate, when to use an AED, and how to keep going until help arrives. Reading helps, but muscle memory comes from practice, so most guides finish with a short drill you can repeat at home before a class on our calendar.

Workplace first aid tips and first aid guides Ontario

Ontario employers must follow the workplace first aid rules set by WSIB, including trained first aiders and stocked kits based on staff numbers. Our workplace first aid tips explain what those rules mean in plain language, which certificate your job usually asks for, and how to plan training for a whole team. For the national standards behind our courses, see the Pulse Savers.

CPR certification blog: renewals and costs

In our CPR certification articles we compare course types, explain recertification, and answer the most common questions about price and format, starting with CPR Level C vs BLS. Still unsure? Our frequently asked questions have short answers, or you can call (647) 667-8573 and we will help you choose. I took the EFA-C course with Dr. Babar Khan and greatly enjoyed the process at Pulse Savers. I have taken first aid courses multiple times, but this was my first time participating in a blended course. I enjoyed getting hands-on experience and actually getting to practice with various wound treatments and bandaging methods. The CPR aspects are thorough and I would certainly recommend this course to anyone looking to add to their skills. I certainly feel more confident about helping someone I see that may be in need!

Before You Book: Common Questions

Straight answers to what people ask us on the phone every week. See all FAQs.
