The best way to determine which first aid and CPR course you need is to check with the organization requesting your certification. If it's required for your job or school program, review their documentation for the exact course name. For workplaces in Ontario, contact WSIB (Workplace Safety & Insurance Board). If you're still unsure, a Standard First Aid with CPR/AED course is a solid general option and provides more extensive training.

CPR/AED Level C covers adults, children and babies and is meant for the general population. CPR/AED Level HCP (BLS) is the healthcare level, with additional topics required at healthcare level.
04
Standard covers more topics and takes longer. Emergency covers the essentials. If your employer did not specify, Standard is the safer choice. Since June 2026, Standard First Aid is now called Intermediate First Aid and Emergency First Aid is called Basic First Aid.

Course guide
Pulse Savers teaches Red Cross first aid courses and CPR courses for the population of Mississauga, Brampton, Scarborough, Pickering areas and GTA. Every class is small, hands-on and led by an experienced instructor. Pick a format that fits your schedule. Not sure where to start? Compare the options below.
The Standard First Aid course is a full-day class that covers bleeding, shock, fractures, burns and medical emergencies, plus CPR and AED skills. It is the certificate most Ontario workplaces ask for. The Emergency First Aid course is shorter and suits smaller teams, volunteers and anyone who needs a quick refresher. Already certified? Standard First Aid recertification keeps it current. Both courses are available in blended or full in-class formats, and you can check upcoming dates for each location.
The CPR AED Level C course teaches chest compressions, rescue breaths, choking relief and AED use for adults, children and babies. It is the right choice for teachers, coaches, parents and office first aiders. Blended CPR courses let you finish the theory online, then practice with an instructor in a short skills session. If your certificate is close to expiring, the recertification option keeps your credentials current without repeating everything.
Our BLS course programme, also called CPR Level HCP, is built for nurses, PSWs, paramedic students and anyone entering a healthcare placement. You will practice two-rescuer CPR, bag valve mask use and team communication. A combined first aid and BLS course is available too. Not sure which level you need?
